3-D Logo Type Tutorial


Ok guys open ps and start with a new document i use 400x400 with black bg and grab your elliptical marquee tool from the toolbar from the right then make a simple shape as shown in the figure.
After creating the shape pickup gradient tool and set the gradient style as shown in the figure.
Fill the shape with the reflected gradient from top to bottom your shape should now looks like the figure you see in the left.
Ok now deselect the shape by pressing ctrl+D from your keyboard and make another shape with elliptical marquee tool but this time keep pressing shift key to make a perfect circle and fill that circle with #000000 color, remember don't deselect the selection yet.
Now make a new layer and name it glow then to select the modify then contract the selection around 2px then again get the gradient tool but this time pick up foreground to transparent gradient with white foreground, then fill the selection from top to bottom around 75% of the selection so that your selection will looks like the figure on the left, remember don't deselect yet the selection.
Now go to edit then transform then select distort and distort the shape like you see in the figure right to you.
After applying the transform duplicate the glow layer and name it glow_dn then select transform and flip vertical glow_dn layer and move it to the bottom of the black circle like shown in the figure.
After applying the transform select the glow_dn layer and hit ctrl+U to get the Hue/Saturation setting, then click the colorize and make the setting Hue : 234 Saturation : 100 Lightness : -48 after applying these setting select the layer glow and set the opacity around 75% and you are done. After giving the logo some text here is my result, i hope you will have the same .
